ABRF Education Committee Sponsored Satellite Workshop Education Awards

The ABRF Education Committee is sponsoring Satellite Workshop Education Awards to promote participation in the workshops at the annual meeting. These will be held on February 19th, 2011, in San Antonio, TX. one day prior to the annual ABRF meeting. Technical scientists working in core laboratories as well as students and postdoctoral fellows interested in pursuing a career in biotechnology are encouraged to apply. This award will cover the registration fee to one of the four workshops offered (see the ABRF site for full details), and up to $500 to reimburse travel and hotel costs. Award winners will be notified by January January 15th, 2011.

ABRF Satellite Workshops

1. Protein Purification for Mass Spectrometry
2. An Introduction to Metabolomics
3. Next Generation Sequencing Considerations for Core Professionals
4. Lean Management for Core Facilities
 

Applicants should submit the following:
1. A personal statement describing the applicant's career and research interests and how the chosen workshop relates to their studies or career goals.
2. A letter from a mentor/supervisor demonstrating need and describing how the workshop will benefit the applicant’s professional development.

 

Those applicants who are registered for the ABRF meeting, and who have also submitted an abstract will be given top priority. Underrepresented minority students, postdoctoral fellows and core scientists are particularly encouraged to apply.  This funding is restricted to persons in US laboratories only.
